Default Hunting season - South Africa 2018

Hi all,

I have been quite for quite some time on the green screen.

Been busy building my hunting and guiding outfit.

Few photos of hunting clients this season.

Fallow deer

Blesbuck

Black Wildebeest

Bushbuck

Fallow Deer

Impala

Hope that a few members of the green screen made the trip across the pond as well this season...

Way to bounce back brother! Last I remember is the broken neck incident. Wow, time flies. I will be there at the end of the month chasing a SABLE and whatever else gets in the way.

Love seeing these pics! Congrats on the good season and more to come.

The fallow surprised me. I didn’t know y’all had them out there with all of that African game. Do they thrive well?

Thanks for all the comments.

Fallow deer thrive in certain areas of South Africa.

The Mpumalanga escarpment of South Africa at around 6500ft above sea level is one of those.

They have been introduced to South Africa in the late 1800ís if memory serves me right.

They have been introduced to the Dullstroom area in the 1960ís.

One of the challenges around where I live now is stalking bushpigs in the corn at night.

The black jackís however makes it difficult as it may take two hours to stalk close enough in the corn.

The photo I attached the pigs were 5 yards away.

I use my 303 Brit rifle with a light mounted below the barrel and an aimpoint red dot sight.

Problem with the thick weeds in the corn is if I switch the light on all you see is a wall and no pig.

All you then get is a growl in the dark and then the pigs busting through the corn...

They have not taken to bait I have put out due to enough food in the corn

But its awesome sitting in a pop up blind at night waiting for them...

Well spotted,

We got close enough... 50 yards on the sticks and the hunter took the head shot with his 270 instead of the vital triangle shot as this one was to become table fair.

Hunting bushpigs is also called hunting the poor manís leopard.

They can and is very challenging to get a kill with the rifle but then I have hunted two with the bow in day light on one of my concessions...
