I bought my daughter a Nikon D3100 for christmas because she is always borrowing my D80. She cracked the rear screen but the still worked. I called Nikon to get an estimate on repair or is it something I can DIY. Customer service would not give any advice either way, they want me to send it to their repair center. I goggled youtube and found out it is only a lCD screen protector covering the actual screen. I found it on EBAY for 4.99 shipped, heated the old screen to loosen the adhesive and replaced.....good as new. Not very satisfied with the Nikon service but love their product.
