I am pending 2nd on both the pronghorn hunts. This is my first season putting in for these draws. What does the pending 2nd draw mean? Assuming it means better luck next year?

Means that you didn't draw. People that did draw have a certain amount of time to purchase their permits. If they don't purchase them for whatever reason their permits will be put back in the "hopper" for a second draw. If all permits get purchased the first time there will not be a second draw.

I'm about to check on my draw results in a bit when I get home. I've gotta do it on a laptop. For some reason the results won't show on my phone under the check status part. It cuts off half of the page.

Wish I knew how many of the 5,500+ entries have more than 20 Preference points. It would be good to know what my probability was to get 1 of my 23 tickets drawn. Still better than winning the lotto mega millions.

Just curious, but did they replenish your loyalty points when the hunt was canceled?

I put in for pronghorn but knew I wouldn't get drawn for that, thought I would be close enough with points to get alligator.

Hang in there. Took me 26 years and 26 preference points before I was drawn for my first buck hunt last season. Unfortunately, the hunt was the same weekend as my son's mule deer draw hunt.

As insurance I went ahead and paid the $80 for my hunt in case my son came down with a serious illness or what have you that would have kept us from going out west.

Needless to say, 26 preference points went bye-bye, as did my $80.

Well you can look at it this way. In this draw system, preference points really don't help you very much statistically.

Mr. Grizz83 is right. There's so many folks with points in each category that you should just look at it as a random draw.

Those of us that don't have many points enjoy that fact but understand our tune will change in time. LOL

I had 10 points on the Private Lands Pronghorn and I'm pretty sure that is how many years that they have offered that hunt. I have 18 for Rita Blanca, have yet to be drawn.

Sorry. No such luck. If you get drawn for a Private Lands hunt, there is no additional cost. I've already accepted the hunt.

Relatively new to the draw hunts, and obviously never been selected, but are the bag limits listed for each hunt per person in the hunting party or per group?

Anyone know when the draw dates are for the next batch of hunts (those with application deadlines on 8/15)?

Several of the hunts tell you the # of Applicants last year and the # of permits available and success rate.

Yep. But they don't say how many total entries there were after applying everybody's loyalty points, so you still don't have exact odds. But you know that a hunt that had 4,000 applicants for 10 permits has slimmer odds than a hunt that had 400 applicants for 15 permits.

They do publish previous years' harvest stats:

https://tpwd.texas.gov/huntwild/hunt...atistics.phtml

Applications not applicant, if you have 4 people on one card for a hunt they still count that a one application. Regardless odds of getting drawn scarce.

The catalog shows the number of applicants, permits available, and success rates for each hunt last year. It doesn't show how many group applications were submitted.
