It's about twice as far as where we were planning on putting him. Although he seems to be doing well, so maybe he can make it back there. Either way, I've got more info on that area, we can talk tonight.

I only have a couple of shoots left. And then we will start scouting at the forest. We all need to get together again this year. Get cripple out of the house. Have some crawfish or something soon.

Sounds like a plan. When you said cripple I thought you meant me.

I know who you meant. I was making a joke.
Lee, it depends on when you last saw me post. Yes, I've had some deeps cuts, and smashed fingers/thumbs. They all heal, just like this one will.
Yes, this job, you never know. It can happen in a blink of an eye.
Moving the fifth wheel companion unit in the rain, when we went to put it down the other guy bent over and pushed it towards me. Wet hands couldn't hold on and it slipped. It missed my steel toe by thiiiiiiissssss much!
Lol

The new rig is going to be another Basscat. Jessie is good everything is still a go for the end of Oct. I sold my rig to tie up some loose ends before that day gets here. Had to be an adult for once.

Man I’ve been thinking alot about the Sam lately. I sure miss hunting out there but just too busy to devote the time needed to scout, hunt it properly. Hopefully y’all have a better season this year than last.

If you need help getting eyes out I can scout some areas you're interested in and report back. Me and HF have already poked around and found where we are concentrating our efforts for the most part. If worse comes to worse I may have an extra area that might see something that I don't really stomp around anymore.

Ok, I'll try and throw my hat back in this ring. That job along with school and stuff really stopped the time on TBH. But... I'm now jobless so that's not holding me back. So while i try to figure out what direction i want to pursue a career, I've got more time to watch the drama unfold. Sent a resume to saddle river, hoping maybe they'll let me behind the gun counter for a while. Of all my jobs, selling guns has been my favorite. Would be great if i can manage to take that and turn it into a comfortable life.

Speaking of hunting it would be cool if we had some type of playful bet like whoever pops the first deer has to take a bite of raw heart and snap a pic or something cool like that Lol

Nice one brother, I don't have cams out this year but got to watch a huge buck grow last year, for a while he had one dark and one light antler, not sure why. I hung a cam at a spot where he had a scrape line and I got many pictures of him, he even made a rub right in front of my camera. Unfortunately my sd card and cam were taken but luckily I had one picture of him in my phone. He's a beast.

I think I’m headed out there this weekend to check some stuff out. Probably Saturday but maybe Sunday depending on family plans. I don’t have cameras so I’ll have to make this trip count.

I was hoping to have my new hunting rig ready to try out but I’ve barely even started on it... maybe next time out.

Not gonna brag or anything, but I got these monsters on camera out there. Seriously though, I did have a couple that didn't look too shabby and a fat doe that looked ready to drop a spotted one.

Hard to say. It's a water hole. Don't know if it'll stay wet. But for now, at least it's drawing in some critters. Time will tell.

We had a friendly competition with points and everything a few years ago. It got shutdown. I think it was because a few dollars were involved.

It's all good. We've accepted it and looking forward. I did technically finish school in 2016, been taking additional classes since. I just realized that my chances of hunting this year depends on getting another truck. Suppose to buy my dad's when we trades up for a 2019 super duty. I traded my truck for gas mileage for that job.

I made mine. I'm using Tasco cameras, but I don't want to come back and not find a camera or card. So I built a locking mount that will keep the camera there and keep anyone from taking my card. I should be able to catch anyone messing with it.
Basically it's a couple of u bolts, welded together with a washer as a point for the lock. The cable around the tree with the lock and it should keep them safe.

After all the walking I’ve done out there I can’t believe I haven’t spotted someone’s trailcam. I’ve always dreamed of giving some unexpected hunter a shot of my better side.

I found one camera so far, if anyone spots a tall guy carrying a 5 year old on his shoulders, that was me and my son.

I have a question for early season bowhunters. When scouting for a good early season stand, will I be better off playing the odds on summer winds primarily coming out of the south to hunt bedding areas? Or should I look for better travel corridors for evening hunts?
