Default New Shop

Iíll try to update this post as I go. Adding a small shop to put my welding stuff in. I didnít have much room left on my lots so I had to go 24x30x12. Has a 3x3 slab on the back end to house my air compressor. Will have a 10x10 roll up, one walk through, and two windows. I will have this building and the 24x24 in the background to work out of. I do some welding projects for folks on my days off as I have time.
Started with some good base material.

Slab is poured. Had a little Landing/ramp poured in front of the roll up door.

Bolt up building from Muellers was delivered yesterday.

Iíll try and update as I go. Going to be another week to ten days before the steel starts going up.

Yes it is a separate 3x3 slab that will be enclosed and spray foamed with its own outside door. Ill get a pic this afternoon. I wanted it "outside" just for noise and make more room inside.

On that concrete pic it is in the back right corner. On the location I picked closest to where my power panel will be.

Looks like a great build, new concrete is a beautiful thing! Is there much of a price difference between a bolt up compared to a weld up style, other than the cost of the welder, rods, and other consumables?

Bolt up was a little higher like 8-10% or so but the labor is cheaper by more than that.

Very nice. Finally got the slab done today on my little shop add-on. Mine will be wood framed, and I have to do it myself, so not quite as exciting

Hereís that little air compressor slab. I have weld plates on this because I will frame this in myself with tubing and matching sheet metal.

Yes sir its on the left of the roll up door. They just put that brace across to firm it up since they weren't going to be back for two days. They will take that cross brace off and frame it out.

Do those bolt up buildings come with good drawings for the slab with the stud locations?

Yes. They are "engineered" with pretty good drawings. You do have to really pay attention to what leg you are looking at and what orientation, etc. We made templates out of 3/4" plywood and they screw onto frame to hang bolts from. You do get an 1/8" maybe a little bigger on the holes on the plate for any screw ups etc. Luckily mine all fit on the bolts in the right spot. I did have to redo a couple after double checking my work and a couple were a little off. Just bad measuring in reference to the drip edge etc.

Working on electrical now. Learning as I go youtube style lol.

One question tho, whats wrong with concrete and ground around the finished building? It looks wet!
