Friday was my birthday and for my gift, the wife gave me a hall pass to go hunting on my own all weekend while she took the kids.
got this guy Saturday night after about 9 hrs in the popup blind (fri nite, Sat am, Sat nite)
with about 10 minutes of legal shooting light left, this guy came down the hill alongside a big mainframe 8.
i counted the points and really liked his mass and character.
but he wouldnt give me a shot inside of 60 yds...
then he walked back up the hill and i went back to trying to get a shot at a doe. then all the bucks scrambled around and when i looked back at my shooting lane, he was standing broadside at 30 yds. i got a good look and let the arrow fly.
we found him an hour later about 150 yds away. double lung shot that nicked an artery... i couldnt be more pleased with him.
i know he may not set any P&Y records, but he is mature and made my heart beat really fast he will have a place on my wall for being my first buck with a bow.
the kickers on the G2's went 1 inch and 2 inches.
he weighed 135 and was approx 4.5 to 5.5 yrs old
bow is a redhead and broadhead is montec cs
