If you opened this thread and posted, you care.

I admit I pay more attention when he's on the course. If he miraculously got his game back, that would be entertaining. Even if he is a miserable human.

Nope. I opened it to voice that "I don't".

Enjoyed watching when he dominated the Tour. I also enjoyed watching before he arrived and I enjoy watching when he's not in the field. Doesn't matter to me, but I'm an every tournament fan.

He tee's off at 12:05 manana. Oh, and at his own tourney. Very Tigerseque if you ask me. Pulls out or withdraws from so many but makes sure he's there playing for his own. Good luck....

Animosity is somewhat understandable, since most of Tiger's problems have been self-inflicted. However, it's not debatable that Tiger single-handedly boosted the value of and interest in the entire sport. All of the current pros understand that today's purse values got where they are during and because of Tiger's dominant years.

If he could dial back a tad on the force he exerts in his swing, he could still have plenty of distance and action on the ball without further wrecking his back and knee. I would love to see a rejuvenated Tiger return to the apex of the sport.

Id love for tiger to come back and compete. Hes great for the game. Infidelity is terrible and he better repent for that but as for golf, he was spectacular.

I'd agree with you 10 years ago, but golf is doing really well without him and doesn't need him to be relevant anymore. A lot of young guns have picked up the slack.

Looks like he may have done just that if you look at videos of his swing that have been posted this week.

Well I for one am glad that he is trying to return. Since he has been gone i watch more of the Senior & LPGA tour than I do the PGA tour except for the Majors. None of today's players have his consistency or draw. I am slowly becoming a DJ and Speith fan but Tiger and Freddy are why I started watching. To me Tiger's biggest mistake in life was getting married too young. When golf and chasing women were his main focus he was the best to ever play argumentatively (Jack was amazing with the equipment of the time). If he could just be in contention on a Sunday at a Major it would be the highest rated Golf tournament on TV since he was the man. I hope that somehow this fusion gives him 3-5 years at a competitive level.

Aside from Tiger's distractions outside of golf, he is the greatest competitor the game has ever seen. He is something to watch when he is healthy and I will be tuned in to watch golf for the first time in a long time starting to tomorrow. Ratings for this tournament will be extremely high and there is a darn good reason for that. Whether Tiger does good or bad, it's good to see him playing again.

I'll be watching! Don't have any sympathy for the guy, but it's hard to deny how fun it was to watch the guy tear it up in his prime. I think it would be good for the sport for him to be competitive again, and what's wrong with that? The more who play the game the better.

That's because there are so many more great players now than there were when Tiger started. He will face the toughest competition he's ever seen this year.

Agreed. But I used the same argument when trying to explain why tiger was better than Jack. Every year the competion gets better, and the technology keeps narrowing the gap as well.

For a 15 year stretch he was the best ever, and its not even close.
The guy was feared when his name was on the leader board. He made great golfers melt down with intimidation. He forced them to try to play beyond their capabilities. I love Jack Nicklaus, but pick any 15 year stretch of his career and Tiger would have blown him off the course. With that being said his downfall was self induced and has no sympathy for him. These guys on tour now should be thanking him daily for the money that is in the game now.

Which is one of the main reasons I don't like him. Do you want your children idolizing that crap? He's tied for 8th and only beat 7 guys. Put a full field on his tail and see if he's 8th. There are only 18 players in the tourney.

You realize that 3-under par is only three shots back from the lead? Further, the elite field in this tournament includes eight of the top 10 golfers in the world. I would say Tiger doing fine -- especially for a guy who is coming off major back surgery and who hasn't played in competition in 300 days.

Never said anyone has to idolize him, just that it would be good to see him regain past form and excel.

Yes we understand you love TW.
Its difficult to compare Jack and Tiger, Arnold, Gary Player, Ben Hogan, Bobby Jones, Sam Snead or any of the greats to todays players. My God most were using wooden headed clubs.
The game has evolved from blades and wooden drivers to pie plate titanium drivers and 7 irons you can hit 200 yards. Tiger made some amazing shots and dominated for a long time. David Duval had 11 tournament wins and a major in 1 season when he took the # 1 spot from Tiger (and then lost it)..... No one can stay at that level forever..... It was fun while it lasted but he's done.

The equipment is irrelevant. All the pros are using the best available equipment at the time. Whether its a persimmon wood driver or the newest Taylormade. Wins are what matter and Tiger has a ton of them. I am not saying Tiger will ever be close to what he was 10 or 15 years ago. But to rule him out completely seems crazy. Hell Jack won his last major at 46? I think Tiger could find lightning in a bottle..

Also I don't think DD won 11 tournaments in 1 year. But the year he made it to #1 in the world was great.
