    Smoked sea salt and paprika

Over the cooler months I smoke some stuff other than meat on my Yoder Durango.
The smoked sea salt takes time but our friends really like it.
The "paprika" was a new twist , bought some dried Guajillo chilies, no paprika chiles available, and slightly re hydrtated them before smoking for about 4 hours.
The salt takes 20+ hours to get the right color.
Smoked whole peppercorns are also very good.
I also make some smoked sea salt with dried jalapenos and other spicy chiles for rubs and seasoning.

I have smoked salt and cheese but never peppercorns. Looks like I've got plans for next week.

I have just bought smoked sea salt from All Things BBQ. I will have to give smoking some a try.

Salt takes forever, be prepared. Soak your wood a little bit.
I like a flake salt for smoking.
Peppercorns don't take very long, few hours will do. I like to get them just warm enough to bring out some oil in some of the peppercorns, they take the smoke nicely then.
