    "Official" SHNF 13-14

Been getting a lot of people asking to start a new thread....so here it is.

This year there are going to be some rules.

Do not post up any street names, road names, or specific hunting spots. If you want to talk to someone about a spot, send it via pm or call them.
Let's keep this thread about hunting the forest. Strategies, techniques, and successes. Talk about what you are doing that is working, or not.
Post up get togethers, clean up days etc.
This is a forum about asking questions and hopefully getting answers.

So let me start. I scouted a new spot that had some huge acorns. I immediately thought they were white oaks, but the leaves are wrong, and the bark isn't quite right. So what other type of oak has a big acorn and looks similar to a white oak?

Good luck to everyone this year.

HF do you still have the pictures of the bark and leaves? I bet someone on here can identify it right away.

Oh, and let the countdown begin

The images online lead me to believe that the oak tree is a "Bur Oak" as Oak tree stated. Well crap, after looking at other photos I have know clue what kind of oak that is.

I got them in the area I hunt on. They seem to spoil petty fast I find small grubs in them.
