Same here. We have plastic funnels in all ours with no problems.

I’d think the metal would sweat before the plastic would. I was under the impression that metal is a far better conductor of heat then plastic.

I'm gonna try venting the tops by putting a few screws around the drum top extending 1/4" - 1/2" above the top so my lid cannot seal on the top of the drum. The lids overlap the top of the drum by over 1" so I will still have it waterproof and the springs will hold it in place.
I will post pictures when I get it done.

        Thanks for the help!

1/4" will be plenty of vent all the way around the lid/feeder barrel top.

I have run plastic funnels for 20 years without any issues.

There - I fixed it (I hope!). Thought I would try using paper binders to hold the lid off of the drum rim. Easy fix if it works.

Here is a clos-up of the clips on the drum rim. Should hold the lid about 1/4" above the rim to allow it to vent.
