Got a dove hunt in yesterday evening and while the lab was distracted searching for a bird in the weeds the ol cur dog saw one fall and I'll be dang if he didn't retrieve it like a pro!...and didn't even eat it!ha. Made my evening

I took my Catahoula with me last year. HE had no problem retrieving them, it was the not eating them he had a problem with. Dang dog stole all my birds

used to have a red healer border collie who was a great bird dog. ****** off some guys who went with us one year because she out did their high dollar, professionally trained labs. she didn't eat them, but they where a little tenderized at times. Always gave her the heads as a treat when she brought them back. First time she retrieved a duck though, she about drowned herself trying to get away from it. Miss that dog.
