Default Longest kill shot with a bow/crossbow

This thread is not about the ethics of long shots if you don't like them etc., start a different thread about that.

This thread is about listing your furthest shots with a bow/crossbow and any info you want to give with it. I was talking to a guy the other day and he had several bow killed elk on the wall and he was telling me, "this one was killed at 6 yards that one at 8, that one at 85!!," which i thought was interesting and where the idea for this thread came from.

My longest kill was a WT doe with a compound at 35 yards, so not too far. I don't think i would have any issue shooting an elk to 50 or so if conditions were right

So, what is your longest bow/crossbow kill shot?

38 yards on a doe but usually prior to my elk hunts when Im focused on shooting I can put it within an 18 inch circle all the way out to 100.

30ish maybe? Doe actually dropped into the shot, otherwise would have missed low. Too much can happen between the arrow being released and the arrow finding its mark on live animals past 30. Western hunting for elk, I understand the need to shoot at further distances. You’ve got a bigger area to target as far as vitals are concerned but it still doesn’t sit well with me when an arrow is in the air so long prior to hitting the intended target. The whole point of bowhunting is being close to the animal. Stick to 3D/stationary targets if you want to push the envelope.

All of the deer that I've shot have been 20 yards or less except the first 6 point buck that I shot 30 years ago. He was 60 yards. He ran maybe 50 yards and dropped.
I've shot an elk at 45, pronghorn at 35, prairie dog at 55, and a turkey at 85. Retrieved all animals.

40 yards on a doe. However, some of the people I ran with in AZ could & did take some mulies out at
100 yds.

Needless to say I was highly impressed.

Elk at 86 yards from a pop-up. I sit 5 days in a pop-up on water, never got out. Slept, ate, and everything else but an occasional bathroom break in the trees. I hit him back in the liver but didn’t go far.

Several animals around 70-80 including pronghorn, coyotes, and exotics.

46 yards on a doe I had already shot at 14. She stopped in the trees with her head down and had a huge mess of bubbles hanging from her mouth. The first shot would have done it but she was still up so I took the shot. She made it three steps and crashed.

All other shots on deer have been inside of 30 yards. I did sling an arrow at a pig at 81. Never touched skin though.

Between 50-60 yds with longbow on antelope is common, killed a couple that far. My tree stand is set up for 12 yds and under, more in my comfort zone!
We use to shoot ground squirrels (mini prairie dogs) with our longbows in Montana at 50 plus yards for hours and hours until our fingers were raw, good practice.

I don’t plan on shooting at a whitetail more than 30 yds. Too many things can happen. Those suckers are just too jumpy. But you never know!

I’ve killed an axis doe at 42 yds and a blue wildebeest at 37 yds, several pigs at 30. I shot a wildebeest at almost 70 with a rubber tip. If it woulda been a broad head, woulda smoked him! Cool video to watch!
