Default Great Hill Country Weekend, with LDPs!

A few months ago a TBHer contacted me about a couple of axis deer hunts. He had to bail but his two buddies decided to come hunt our families place this past weekend. I got to the ranch and it was hot and clear on Thursday evening. An outfitter had contacted us about bringing a client to hunt transcaspian urials. We happened to have a very large one with a broken right front foot which made a great trophy candidate. We were able to seal the deal just before dark. My sister and I with the trophy sheep. You can kind of see how jacked up his right front hoof is.

Great sunset to end the day.

The axis hunters arrived Friday AM and we got things started. We saw lots of animals and never could seal the deal until Sunday AM. They ended up going 2 for 2 on great axis bucks. Hard horned was 33x31.5. Velvet went 30.5x30.5. Better then anything I have on the wall! In the end I think everyone had a good time and the two lucky hunters took home a bunch of good meat and two real trophies.

n

Great ending to the weekend!

Yea that country does produce some great sunsets. First ones I have been able to snap with an iPhone with no filters and have them turn out half way decent.

I think 7 or 8. He was a good one but busted front hoof made him a good candidate to be taken out. It had been hurt for a while but we were scared we would lose him sooner or later.

there is an opening on a chandeluer trip in 3 weeks but I'm not sure it's a group he'd enjoy. Don't know if I will either for that matter. I got a feeling some are gonna party a lot. I'm going to fish. A lot.

One of my hunters just sent me these photos. First picture the hunter and myself are at top of hill walking up on downed axis. Second picture is looking back down at the blind he shot him from. Just to give a little perspective.

Where he fell. Was fun getting him down that hill!
