The hose from the burner is long enough that I can move the propane bottle close to the door. Just turn on the valve with right hand and reach over to the burner with left hand. Easy peasy!

Fantastic job! I wouldn't have used PT lumber either but I agree in your build it's not really an issue. pete

I have a steel shed with the same aspirations as this. What is the backing board? What did you seal the seams with? I intend to do the same with propane and smoke. Looking to get temps to 300ish as well.

The inside walls are Hardie board, walls are insulated with ordinary R13 insulation, the seams are sealed with window caulk.

This past weekend I fired it up for 6 hours and kept the temp at 225 for 3 hours and 260 for 3 hours. I loaded the stove up with oak and kept it going for 4 hours.

Everything held up just fine, the door knob didn't even get too hot to handle.

That's really slick! Would it be worth doing some throw away bacon in there just to make some "greasy smoke" to coat the inside?

Mostly I just want to see it go.

Forgive my ignorance but why the propane and stove on opposite sides? I get one is for smoke is the other used strictly for heat or is it a smoke generator also with cast iron pan full of wood chips? Id love to build one but have to ask before I jump in.

Look at post 63.
The stove provides smoke and heat while the burner just makes heat.
This past weekend I smoked a brisket in there. I smoked it for 7 hours at 225 then let the wood burn out and finished the last 3 hours with the brisket wrapped in foil and used the burner at 250

I never need the burner and ended up removing it. Plenty of heat from the stove.
