You get that garage cleaned out yet so your boat don't have to sit out in the rain? Good looking bunch of fish!

Just added another group to the TBH Crappiefest. Our group of four, Dad and three boys (18, 14 and 12) will be there. I have just secured a room Jackson Hill Marina and looking forward to the weekend.

This will be our first visit to Sam Rayburn and Crappie fishing and hoping not our last. I'm trusting our 18ft. G3 will be fine for the lake and will order some of the listed crappie and bass plastics on this thread.

Slew are you still planning on a Friday night fishing session?

Thank you to all the contributors and looking forward to the meet and greet.

Welcome aboard! I’ll try to keep Slew sober enough to give a crash course on perch jerkin! No promises though...

Thanks Slew and SKLoss.

SKLoss - I will also get some of the Flirt 4.95 plastics ordered as my boys truly enjoy bass fishing. I may have to hit you for some more bass pointers once we arrive.

10-4. Been a few years since I’ve fished Bug Sam, but I’ve always caught bass on that lake.

Don't overthink the bass fishing on Sam. All a man really needs is a decent setup and a bag of senkos, flukes or trick worms of the watermelon persuasion and he'll catch fish.

That should get you started! None of the Plastics I listed are sold at academy. Bonehead is in a few walmarts. You can order them all online though. Bonehead grapevine slim sticks or stump bugs would be worth ordering to stick on those pink heads IMO. Or thermocline purple passion.

Default TBH Sam Rayburn Crappie weekend!

Boneheadtackle.com
Thermoclinelures.com
Constantpursuitoutfitters.com

I know em all so usually buy face to face but have occasionally ordered from Lane Palmer with constant pursuit online. Bonehead is in Whitehouse so I could see Josh quicker than I could order online and wait for it to ship! Same goes for Todd at Thermocline.

Getting closer! Not going to Millwood this weekend. It's gonna be closed. Heading to meet some buddies at Fork I guess! That or go fish skinny water on Stine.

Any advice on catching crappie on Rayburn this time of the year?

I have never attempted to fish for crappie, and my FIL is really wanting to go. Any advice is appreciated.

I would try the backs of creeks with minnows close to the banks in 2-3 feet of water. If that don't work start easing out of the creeks strolling road runners behind the boat while bump trolling with the trolling motor on low. 6-8 feet of water. If that don't work look for points with brush or stumps in 10-12 feet of water with a slip cork and minnow about 8 feet down. North end of lake above 147 bridge was off color last weekend.

I think I may get in on this fun and book a cabin.
I’m off that weekend and can’t get enough of crappie fishing. We usually go fish Louisiana delta that time a year but i can put it off a few weeks for this.

Havent fished Rayburn in awhile, but loved it. One of the 3 best lakes in Tx IMO. Used to fish the "big sam, big bass" tourney out there

Multi tasking is when you have a rod in one hand and a beer in the other.

There's timber right across the lake from Jackson Hill ramp you could fish if the wind wasn't bad and 50 other launches around the lake you could head too if wind was too bad in one area.

Unless they have it repaired the last time I drove through Jackson Hill the dumping station(if needed) had a sign out of order on it. It has been several weeks since I have driven through the area.
