I've heard that Boyers never retire... they just stop taking orders.

They are fun and addicting aren't they?

Okay, getting to go to Africa this summer. Thought gun hunt only but PH told me to bring my bow too. I need to find a heavier arrow and stout fixed broadhead. Any suggestions or where to look up what I need?
Thanks.
Post up a thread in the Around the Campfire or search for some of the older posts. A lot of people hunt Africa with bows on here. There are a lot of folks on the trad side that hunt Africa too. Two big things other than good tune are heavy arrow is good as well is making sure you have crazy sharp broadheads. I don't think you will have to go to the extreme and put in crazy weight tubes and all that jazz. There are a couple of arrow shafts out there that are already pretty heavy. FMJs and Carbon Express heritage are already in the 10gpi + range.

I've made a few longbows and shot a few recurves in my day but nothing like these. Super light, (cocobolo?) tons of inlay and hand file work. The tips were even filed to look like arrowheads. Sweeeeeet draws and very accurate....Me shoot...caveman came out and me want one. Wife say yes. If me get bow me be like good puppy. Kill things lay at wifes feet. Oongah boongah

Some of that sure sounds likes Rolands bows. I was noticing that it even has writing on the top limb and the bottoms. I'm sure a number of bowyers do that but so does Roland, as well a doing file work on the tips, and now also on a piece of overlay on the grip and the overlay of the fade outs. Either wya, they look good

Yeah, all this time you shoot a stickbow and you keep that little tidbit to yourself!

Get some closer pics of the risers and the file work! It does sound a lot like Rolands.

It does look like it says Roland. I dunno for sure I'll have to ask. Wish I could get my hands on one of my very own. Either way these bows finally got my wife's attention. She saw me drooling and squirming I guess and she's finally onboard for me getting a decent recurve

Be careful... getting your hands on a smooth shooting trad bow can potentially ruin the way you used to approach hunting season. Late September hits you and you realize you haven't pulled out the compound since... well... December.

We keep this up and we're going to overtake this thread with trad. Is that another reason daniel got quiet? too much trad talk?

Really, the boy's been too quiet overall lately.

I'm planning on hunting bow season in the Sam, with a Recurve this year. It will the first time to leave my compound hanging on the wall. I think I'm gonna stick to trails alongside creeks, hunting out of my Summit Openshot.

I've got a spot or two i have to show you. Been talking about it for years but fits that criteria. If i can hurry up and land a job once school is done, I'll probably bite the bullet and get an open shot too

Am shooting both right now. Hoping to draw out in Okla on traditional only hunt. Will likely spend most of the season compound, but fully intend to hunt some with recurve.

You know.

I'd like to get on the trad train. I just need to work more.

At the trad shooting and tuning, not actual work. I do plenty of that already.

Wife and I went to Cabelas today. Don't waste your money in there deli, except for maybe the fudge.
Lots of neat gear.
Then we went to Kemah to the boardwalk. Never been there, kinda neat. Doing a little work here at home. Want to add some lights to my truck and some more to my boat.

Or I may just lie on the couch....

Wow, small world. I have never even heard of this man until today. All I know is he makes a seriously great bow and I hope he's not too retired to make me one. When my wife is ready to let me officially pull the trigger I'll definitely be bugging you about it

Just to be clear, he is retired from AT&T not bow making.
He still builds bows. He is very, very good.

He has helped me tremendously in my bow making over the years, but my bows aren't near the level his are!

I figured I was only getting the cliff notes version on him yesterday regarding bows. My brother in law let me shoot his and man...I'm still dreaming about it. As soon as I began to draw I think I was hooked. Big difference between that bow and dads Bear recurve. Just felt smooth all the way

We shot with him at the hill country shootout. He's in some of the pictures me and Tod posted a number of pages back. Great bows and a great guy. It's always a pleasure to shoot a round with him. And dang his bows sling an arrow fast!! His bows are very reasonably priced too. You shouldn't have to wait too long. Many other bows out there are more than twice what he charges, but you don't get all the customization and ability to hand pick your woods.

I think the politically correct word (so we don't offend anyone) is gee. 🙄 And we know you're kidding. In other threads you might worry, but we all know each other around here and if someone says something to offend someone else, we usually just say ...... "Well bye!"
