That`s what I was trying to explain to my folks back home ...
Them Texans have their own style ...
Thank you Sir, you just made my day
where was I ....
Texas, we are coming …
So we made the decision to go Texas….
and I was trying to help my friend to realize his dream.
I was not the only one in trying to help ...
His two kids (lovely daughter and son) saved up some of their pocket money and wanted to support him this way
Also I remember his son saying: " DAD, IF YOU NEED SOME EXTRA MONEY, I COULD GO AND SELL MY BEST FISHING ROD…."
I loved that !!!
Anyway, I have been spending hours on the web to find out more about bowhunting in Texas.
Hunting license for aliens or so called non - residents ….
Hunters Education course ….. and so on.
At the same time I was in contact with a guy from San Antonio. ( Hi Chris, almost time for you to chime in here … )
He offered us a roof and a ride from and to the airport for free and a whooooooole lot more as we found out later.
So we bought tickets and the wait began …. that was the hardest part for my buddy Fred.
The closer the deadline the more nervous he got …
Did I tell you that he was excited all over ….
I will get me some coffee now and have a little rest ….
before we are heading ...
See you all very soon - and thanks for coming along !!!
Happy Trails

We made it ….
Texas, here we are ...
After a boring 13 hours flight from Vienna via London - Chicago, we arrived at the San Antonio airport.
Chris was already waiting to pick us up.
We stowed our stuff in the car and drove to his house.
Early next morning we went to his office to send emails to our families and then we were on our way to
the family ranch near George West ...
a happy camper ... waiting for some Javalinas, Hogs or whitetails to show up ....
Chris`s father Greg watching us getting ready to shoot some arrows ...
We found out that most people in Texas driving a big truck - so we felt a little bit mickey mousy with that car that we had hired !!!
But traveling on a budget .... you have to improvise sometimes…..
We had to make some adjustments ….
Many thanks goes out here to Chris aka "Fishnhunt".
A former stranger to me - I only knew him from the internet - welcomed us like old pals !!!
He introduced us to his family - and to be honest here - we did not expect to be welcomed at such a lovely way.
With your help and effort that you have put into it, that trip turned into something very special.
Thanks again to Chris and family.
Did I tell you that Fred was excited all over ....
He will be on his first bowhunt in Texas very soon ...
Happy Trails
Daniel
