Just wanted to show off this deer from Lampasas and the story behind it.
My girlfriend and I were driving north on 281 late Friday (10/6) night headed to her family's ranch when this guy ran out in front of me. I was able to avoid the buck, but the car next to me was not so lucky. We instantly pulled over to assist the gentleman who was shaken up pretty bad, but luckily no serious physical damage to him. I was unable to move the car due to the entire front end being smashed, so we called the police to assist in moving the car off the road since other drivers were driving by extremely fast and we concerned someone else would hit the stalled car. While all this was going on, I knew the buck had to be back in the ditch somewhere and I knew he was big, but I had no idea....
Hopefully the game warden makes a good mount out of it and other people get to see him. I came up with around 175 total, 16 scorable points. 86 up, 76 down, 18 wide.
Does anyone hunt 5 miles south of Lampasas? Anyone have pics of this deer?
