Sorry, been looking all day. Did not find him.... tough one for sure. Son thought shot was about 6-7" back but good height. Had good blood and some guts, but mainly blood. He laid down about 75-100yrds from where he was shot. We looked hard last night and pretty much from 630 this morning until 3pm. Big thanks to Seth for bringing out your dogs on a holiday weekend. This one will sting for a while.... he is a special deer (7-8" droptine) and son is really down. We have all been there for sure. Thanks for all the help TBH family.

Hopefully he can survive his wound or if yall are there the rest of the weekend the buzzards will show you the way to him. I feel bad for your son but it will happen to all of us eventually. The only people that dont mess up are the ones that dont ever attempt to do anything. Tell him to keep his chin up.

You might want to call some one else if you have blood and some gut matter. Give me a call and I can give you numbers to a couple of good dogs in that area. 210-215-1880

You need to call Kevin Dubose at 830-965-2787. I don't know if he will still come to you after all of that, but he might. A gut shot deer is almost always recoverable with a GOOD dog.

Thanks for all the replies and sorry I was slow to post updates. Deer was found this morning by a family member of the land owners. He was shot exactly where my son said all along, about 6" back and perfect height. We had good vital blood and just a little gut mixed in. We assumed it was from the angle as the buck was slightly quartered to him. The buck was found approximately 700-800 yards away. Unfortunately, the coyotes beat us to him by about 30 hrs and got him good. We will be able to get another cape and do him some justice. Was a main frame 8 pt that has 16 pts with 2 drops on his left side. Lifetime deer with amazing character. Thanks to everyone again with help on the recovery. Not sure about posting the pics because the yotes really got him good. Will try and clean him up and post this weekend when we head back down.
