I plan on being a public land hog killing machine as soon as the mosquitos die and the weather get below 95. I also changed my bow/arrow/broadhead set up.
So probably November huh?
gotta get me a hog one day.
I'm gonna only go when the winds perfect and hunt other setups not just my favorite one and I'm gonna hold out for the biggest deer on the place or go home empty handed but I say that every year lol
Tell you what I did.... I got a dern good lease. I made the mistake of taking a friend to junction during the rut on an axis hunt. The year before that, I spent most of my time in kansas on three hunts. I will definetly spend more time on my lease this year. There is some quality deer there. I want to see what the rut brings.
I got a second feeder set up and a couple small food plots. I'm also going to be picking up my first bow in about a month. Right now I'm leaning towards the bowtech assassin. This is going to be a great season.
New lease, along with txjourneyman and cleetusbodeen. Throwing a lot more corn than usual and feeding all year. Also hunting far from camp and walking in the last 1/2 mile or so.
I'm going to hunt more through lunch time. I'm also going to get out on my feet more and try to hunt stands a little less. I enjoy walking stealthily through the woods more than sitting and waiting, but I do enjoy both.
Putting out a box blind next week to bowhunt from.
Tired of cows and wind destroying my ground blinds.
Also putting up a lock in around the corner from this box on a travel route to the feeder.
I still need to come up with a means to sling hand corn right at dawn so it isn't all gobbled up before daylight.
I'm thinking cylinder with a wide lid of some sorts.
No way to top last year for me. Will hunt the same for myself without any expectations. I will probably be doing a lot more scouting for others to try and find them a big one.
