    Jawbone question

For those of you rquired to collect the jawbones off your deer, what have you found is the best way to get them cleaned off and dry? Would putting them in a container of salt work? Thanks for the input in advance.

Catfish skinners! But the best way is to get as much meat cut away from the bone before you take it out.

put them in a bucket of water for a week or 2 then put them outside to air dry. Or boil them for the quickest result if needing them for the biologist for record keeping. If a cull buck take a photo of it before process to match the jawbone along with
ID numbering age, cull # usually 01-etc (cull number)-01 (age1-11yrs)-daymonthyr

You probably don't have anything else to do with the rest of the day....get to whittling!

When we were on mld, we would cut it out, clean it up some, put it in a zip lock and let the biologist take it from there.
