    Strange injury

    Saw a doe this weekend with a back foot that went 90 degrees to the right.
    Otherwise she looks like the leg and hip are ok. Can anyone post the photo for me and let everyone guess what might have happened?
    The other thread about the buck caught in a fence or snare reminded me.

    No idea but I had a doe here at the house last year with a front foot that was obviously broke low

        Possibly a deep rocky hole (while running) stepped into and caused the damage. Also seen animals get there foot caught in barbed wire and other trash people leave behind.

                  From your photos, it appears to me that her injured leg has normal looking musculature - so I doubt she was born with her foot like that. No doubt it's broken. If I saw her, I'd try to put her down before the yotes got to her. It looks like she is trying to bear weight on that foot, but I don't think she would be able to run or jump very far, very fast for very long.
