Default Chicken gizzards and livers

Who eats them? I went with the family to pick up some food at he local chicken shack and saw they had them and got a large order for me , the family actually acted like I had lost my mind, I just went to snack on some left over and they were fed to the dogs because the wife said “she new no one would want to eat them and the dogs where eye balling them “ they were delicious and a wonderful change in what I would have gotten if I hadn’t actually went to make the order

Gizzards and liver are both great if they are FRESH and not over cooked. Most places are bad about over cooking them.

Organ meats are very nutritious. I enjoy the gizzards very much but eat the livers more for health benefits. Although technically a muscle, hearts are very good too. Feet make the best stock, BTW.
I have customers ask for feet a lot.

The kids raise broilers for show projects. I ask the family who cleans them to put the livers, gizzards, and hearts in a container for me and they can have the rest of the chicken. Fresh chicken liver fried in a cast iron skillet is fantastic. Gizzards and hearts go into every gumbo we cook at the house. Usually its a fight with my daughter to see who gets those. There are several local convenient stores who fry the gizzards, but only a handful do it the right way.

Love me some chicken livers, especially with smashed taters and brown gravy!!
We had a cafeteria at the office and they would serve them about once a month and were some of the best I have had.
I was visiting family a few weeks back and we decided to get liver and gizzards. I was surprised how many liked them.
Gizzards to me have little taste and do not like the texture.

Only place I could get some chicken feet is at our nearest DIMSUM Chinese place
And since I am with the family that choice is probably out
But I do see lots of people eating them, one day when I am by my self I will
And maybe some duck tongues

The Texas Drive In, in Victoria used to have a killer gizzard/liver combo basket. I don't know if they're still open.

I try to get some gizzards, from the Grab-n-go, in Hallettsville, every time I'm there.

So, yes, I like both!

Both for me, never thought anything about it, love each. Each has great flavor profiles. I also enjoy smoking both on the pit as appetizers. Simply lay down a little foil with butter and hit it with salt and pepper. Doesn't take long. I also deep fry hearts, all good and best parts of a hen.
