Default Auction for Cali fire relief

This thread was approved by Mary and Michael. Thank you and God bless Texas.

The fires are devastating this year in northern California. The Carr fire near Redding and Mendocino Complex fire near Clear Lake have destroyed countless homes. Countless lives changed. Good people, rural areas.

I am auctioning off the ultimate man cave/ bar/ collector item. An item I doubt youíll find, especially in new condition.

Imagine having the control module from a Bradley Fighting Vehicle controlling:

- 25 mm gun
- 7.62mm machine gun
- TOW anti tank weapon
- Grenade launcher
- Mine Countermeasures Device (MCD)
- Turret drive

All of the switches have different types of safety lockouts. Control box only- no electronics inside- and obviously I canít possess a 7.62 machine gun in CA!

Second, it the FLIR (forward looking infra red) control unit.

There is 1 switch missing on the fire control unit- I assume one could be switched from the FLIR if you want to.

I want the winning bidder to pick the charity and mail a check directly- The Red Cross is default, but I would prefer a donation to a local church raising money for affected people. You pick the denomination, I can help you find a church accepting donations. Alternately, the donation can go to a fund for the firefighters who have died.

Letís end the auction on Sunday August 19 at 8:00pm. Iíll pay shipping which will probably be around $50.00, so Iíll start the bidding at $50.00.

Thank you.

That's one of the coolest things I've seen in a long time. Kudos for doing this and good luck with the auction.

You folks are making this too easy. Maybe folks are waiting until payday tomorrow...

Going to look pretty sweet on my desk. Plus, can't wait to see people's reactions after I wire up some lights and the arm weapons light goes green when I start to get annoyed.

Morning bump.

When I saw this map showing the size of the fire being larger than San Francisco 100 miles south, it got me wondering where would all the liberals flee to?

Great to speak. I sent you the link for donations. Iíll pack up and ship everything shortly.

The Bethel Church relief fund is in conjunction with the Salvation Army- who I repay and old debt for their treating my Grandfather well during WW1.

Good to talk to you too Bill. Sent you a text with the donation confirmation.

I also had somewhat of an old debt to pay to California. Long story short, when I was stationed in Monterrey California a few of us waited in a parking with this older lady as her "rolls royce" was was having some issues until her hired man arrived. Nicest, most down to earth lady you could imagine smack dab in the middle of California. She gave us each $100 and insisted we take it. Truth be told, if it wasn't for that $100 I wouldn't have been able to afford to go home for Christmas a few weeks later. There are some good people, even in California.

If you care to send a few bucks the link Bill gave me is listed below:

Monterrey is one of my favorite places on earth - what language is she studying? If you are able go visit - eat a burrito at papa chanoís, visit the aquarium, hit the downtown Thursday evening street fair, and sit on the rocks off lovers point park and watch the sunset. Iím going back for car week next year!

Monterey is really nice, my daughter lived in Seaside for a couple years and worked in the Ag business in Salinas. She always said sheíd jog or hike in Big Sur and was living where people came for vacations.

My wife and I like Carmel, the public beach is beautiful snd allows dogs off leash. Our labs go crazy chasing a ball in the surf. South of Carmel is a Carmelite convent and church. When you leave at the end and walk out the doors- the blue Pacific ocean is your horizon.

I should be out of Cali way before next summer, the Lord willing.

Box in USPS, should be in Texas next week. Thanks again for the generosity. Air here has been bad this week, and weíre in a yellow zone on the air pollutants map. Pictures of SF are bad- the smoke over the ocean mixed with fog and westerly winds blew it to the bay area.
