Saving my pennies. What long lens to get?

Only time I use a tripod is shooting the moon. All my wildlife shots are handheld, most are out the window of my truck. I think IS is a must.

Speaking of the moon here's tonight fullmoon.

Well, lens came today!

Couldn't wait to get it out and try it. Unfortunately, I am not impressed...
