And I bet you'd have hail getting them to do it, if at all. I believe there was a suspected terrorist's phone they wouldn't unlock a few years ago.

If you bought it on ebay, go through the buyer protection there.

If you paid with paypal G&S, do the same with them.

If you paid with paypal F&F, smack yoself once or twice for doing that then make an attempt to go through their buyer protection, might not work but then again it might.

I'd try to be rid of that phone before trying to get it to work, I can just about gaurantee it's stolen.

Pretty much hosed and the phone is most likely stolen

From the Google:

If you don't have a way to log in with the original account used to activate the iPhone, you're basically stuck. Activation Lock is a powerful and effective tool and there's really no easy way around it. That's why it's so important to make sure used phones are not iCloud locked before you buy them.

Or take it to the Apple Store and be done with it. Ft. Worth, Southlake, and three in Dallas. Genius Bar takes it in the back and comes out a few minutes later...Voila’

there's a way to completely reset the phone to factory default if it isn't on the stolen or lost list...take the phone to your local wirless store and the will run the IMEI number on it to see if it is....NEVER BUY A PHONE OFF SOMEONE UNTIL YOU VERIFY THAT IMEI number, I used to work for Verizon and had so many people come in that couldn't activate it because it was either stolen, lost, or not paid for....

but you can try this method, plug your phone into a computer and log into iTunes.....once you do so, do a HARD RESET until you see the iTunes prompt a message on the screen and follow the steps.....it worked sometimes depending on the situation

Not if itís locked down. My wife locked hers down on accident once and it took Apple 6 weeks to get it unlocked.

All they were able to do is get it to make calls and send texts.

If you bought it off Facebook do you have the person who sold it to you’s address and name? Maybe if you still have their listing up, take a screenshot and make a police report.

Apple won’t unlock it for you.

So.... found out the iPhone is fake! And also found out they they have another one for sale... if I were to call the police what’s the likelihood a cop would show up and bust this sucker? Or should I get a friend to set up a meeting and me be hiding in the backseat with a pistol I know a cop can’t make them give my money back but maybe they can be put in jail

Your second idea sounds like a REALLY bad idea.

As far as the cops, what did he do thatís illegal? Sure he misrepresented a product but as always buyer beware.

What model did you think you were buying (regular or Pro model)? I hope you didnít pay $800 for a non pro model.

man sorry to hear that. It's tempting for you to set him up yourself and hold him at gun point but probably not a good idea. A lot can go wrong, if you end up shooting him, were you in fear for you life, being that he was set up? Not worth the trouble if it goes sideways. Probably a little hard to get a patrol officer to come and do the set up for you. that kind of thing takes time and he can't be pulled out of service for that long, especially in a big busy city.

If you can help it, I would stay away from buying electronics or commonly stolen items from places like facebook, craigslist, etc...all you're really doing is perpetuating a cycle of providing a place for criminals to sell stolen good. If it's too good to be true then it probably is. I'm assuming you bought the iPhone 11 Pro, bc the iPhone 11 is $699 straight from apple. Good luck with your situation.
