    Rating the Hard Coolers

Thinking of getting a new cooler, not named "Y".

Thinking of a all around hunting / general cooler. Debating on a 110 vs 145 size.

Whats ya'lls opinion? Brand and size.

    Thanks

I like my Rtic, but then again, I have two 100qt Igloo's that get the job done just as good and cost/weigh a lot less....

Bison, Pelican, Rtic, IceHole, Cabelas, Engle, etc, etc

      They are all good.
I prefer the Pelican handles and latches. ymmv

I have yet to have an igloo last more than one season without the hinges or latches breaking.

I do like them for cycling ice through the meat as the more expensive ice chests do not melt ice fast enough for it.

I got the 145 from RTIC and will be using it on my trip to yellowstone this summer. I needed something larger that was animal proof.

Iceholes are the best but you pay for them! Made in USA by Veterans (if I remember correctly)!

Canyon, Pelican, and Orion are my favorite "mid-range" coolers

Or just cheap out and get an RTIC or KODI like most people

Can't help on size but just remember they start to get pretty dang heavy

I have a Y, Rtic, Kodi, and Pelican and Pelican is by far the leader when it comes to durability and keeping ice the longest. Made in USA and supports NRA as well. Get a Pelican if u want the best.

Gohunt has an awesome stress test on a few including throwing out the back of trucks going 60. Check out their site.

I've heard Orion are top of the line.

                          Get a 120qt igloo for $50.00.
Throw it away, when the hinges break off and get another one.

I have 2 rtic coolers and love them. My 20 quart got ran over by a truck and high centered the truck. When pulled the truck off the cooler only had a scrape and cut the rubber handle. Made me a believer for toughness, plus holding ice for a good bit. For the price can not beat them and like them a lot for the price. I have only bought when they had them on sale. But also have an igloo that holds ice good as well.

                              X2.

For keeping my ice froze at deer camp I bought a small chest freezer. Run it off the generator, just needs to run enough to keep it frozen. (We run the generator anyway for other things.) This last season was my first year doing it this way it worked well. I paid $180 for a brand new freezer at Lowe’s, I think it’s 5cf.
