Got in my tripod last night with the bow--been killing some bigger hogs at this place, but all with rifle. I got in the seat and was almost settled when the feeder spun. Finished up and the anticipation was awful. An hour later I'd seen a few birds, a doe, and a couple of turkeys.
Feeder was at 12 o'clock, 17 yds, with the wind from 2 0'clock strong and gusty. At 8:20 I heard brush break at 2 o'clock and next thing I see is a hog headed right at me at a dead run across the small field. He stopped behind some branches, and I got turned and ready for him to give me a clear shot. Then he started walking straight at me. Stopped 11 feet from the tripod when he cut my trail. Took a couple of sniffs, and then took off while I was about half-drawn.
Sat another 30 minutes and saw only a young buck with 2" fuzzy knobs. Pulled the game camera card and found he was the only pig that has been there in the past 2 days--including early morning during daylight--
