    DIY Fishing lake re-do

These won't be anything like the lake in East TX, but we are at it again. Three lakes in this property used to have good fish not great and that's all they are looking for. Just the ability to catch a lot of fish each outing instead of growing big fish.

First one is an irrigation pond that will be geared towards easy fishing for kids. It is constant level maintained by a well and won't have too much added besides some structure, bait, and forage fish. Hoping we can keep the forage fish fat and happy. We are also connecting this tank to the larger one just south of it via a gravity drain so we can use the same well for both and divert runoff to the larger lake.

gonna need a bigger pump. Feels weird to let water out of something that is full.

making the point longer to add shoreline and a long point sloping to depth. We'll add 3 or 4 of these depending how time goes and each one will have a big rock pile off them in 5 foot of water.

the big house pond from the south looking north.

More to come but now they are telling me to get back to work.

Next one needs a bunch of work. It is almost 9 foot low and darn near dry. This is farther south than the big house pond and we call it the Cabin Pond. The well for the cabin went out and it needed a new one. thats what started this process. We'll dig that in the next few weeks and route a line to the pond to help fill her up and keep up with summer evaporation (hopefully). Will be just over 5 acres when full.

Equipment rental ain't cheap, but we operators work for cold domestic beer and fishing rights. We formed a union to demand swimming hole rights but they fired us And took away the beer. Fearing dehydration and boredom.....we got back to work

We've had an unexpected birth in the group. Congrats to the new momma and poppa, but this kid owes us a few hours of equipment operation when he turns 18.

You need some aerial drone pics along the way and when complete! But for heaven's sake, don't pay anyone for them or the TBH police will rat you out!

Progress has ground to a hault. Thank goodness for the moisture, but the ground was pretty wet before the snow.

This is a bad picture of the big house pond, but good picture of what is making work difficult.

This is the big house pond from the air. White stuff is gone. The stream of water just to the left of the excavator is the overflow pipe from the little house pond doing its job. The level has come up almost 10 inches with the recent moisture.

Little house pond from the air. The line of snow on the left side marks the trench for the overflow pipe. We have some cleaning up to do on the trench, but other than that the overflow pipe is done. The stand pipe for the overflow can be adjusted to control the water level in the little house pond, and normally this pond will normally have another 10 inches of water in it. We have the stand pipe turned all the way down now to drop that water level so we can do some work around the edges.

The little house pond has the house, red barn, and office just right of the barn piped to it. It is also kept full by a well. The well won't keep up with both ponds in the heat of the summer, but during a rain event we were loosing a bunch of water over the spillway of the little house pond. All this water will now go down to the big house pond. We hope.

Didn't have a chance to snap a picture of the cabin pond from the air. It started to rain again before I got over that direction.

Don't tell the cops, all aerial photography was done by a rank amateur.

Appreciate it. Hope we can get it dry enough to get started again soon.
