over the last 8 yrs the GOP has done a pretty good job of alienating blacks, hispanics, asians, gays, muslims and independent/young women.

at least that is what they say when they go to the polls and vote for a president...

Actually, if you had been paying attention to politics for any length of time you would know that is the same thing the media and dems have been saying for about 40 years..not the last 8.
Its a really OLD and tired play book

maybe, but what i do know is i have seen a lot of GOP candidates say a lot of dumb far right stuff that alienates the group they are speaking about in the last 8 years.

but if it is working for you, by all means keep it up

not off the top of my head, but i don't disagree there are extremists on both sides.

extreme politics doesn't win and is not good for the country.

Dang, you busted me. That is an oversimplification for sure on my part. Suffice it to say that in my opinion, party leadership has long since shifted its allegiance from voters to corporate and special interests, at the expense of jobs, income and opportunity for people. But they moved right on most social and wedge issues to keep the base happy. The result is that we have become a less inclusive, somewhat obstructionist party that has turned a lot of moderate Republicans into independents and democrats.

I think that's a fair perception. Dems have done a great job of both marketing themselves as the providers of the people, to boot they generally deliver. Meanwhile the R's haven't offered much alternative solution other than to dig their heels in. Therefore it gives the appearance that they are obstructionist.

Im glad you used the words " appearance "
Truth is if the media for the last 40-5o years had been doing their jobs everyone would understand that the dems have done nothing for the working man, nothing for the poor, and what they have done to the african american population is simply evil just like their democrat for fathers.
The dem party ( especially Harry Reid and Nancy ) are the real obstructionist.
And ol bernie is nothing more than a re-distributionist socialist despite the fancy discription some want to use. I have said for 25 years that 200 years from now the historians will wonder what happened to the once great country full of self reliant people. They will conclude that the media was to blame for this its destruction; because the people can not make an informed decision if the media fails to provide accurate/ truthful information.

I think you are being naive if you don't realize the Republican party has been nothing but a puppet for corporations and special interest groups for the past 10-12 years at least. They have helped corporations get legislation passed time and time again that stifles competition, makes it harder for small businesses to get started much less grow, taken away our personal privacy, shipped jobs overseas to pad their own pockets, etc. And that doesn't cover the half of it.

With all due respect, I think those who believs that what ails this country is the fault of the other party is part of the problem, not the solution. As for Bernie, I'll give him this for sure. He makes a much more honest, fact based case for his beliefs than a lot of what comes out those on our side of the fence.

Finally, with regard to Reid and Pelosi, I agree, they are vile, insidious leaders who routinely put politics over what is best for the people. But if we despise them so much based on their tactics, how is it we praise those on our side that do the exact same thing - including none other than Ted Cruz.

This party needs a wake up call or it will be obsolete in another 4-8 years.
