The earth is such a small part of the huge universe anyways. It is called weather. Period.

I believe climates are measured and averaged on 30 yr cycles. There will be extremes in individual years but the climate accounts for the last 30 years.

You hear all the climate change and conspiracy theorists but you watch the weather and the record high was 86 on this day in 1889 (just an example and not accurate) which was well before all this.

I do think there are plenty of things we can do as a society to negate and improve the situation though.

There are plenty of things we can do to clean up messes, prevent messes...pretty much anything polution related. But as a species there is nothing we can do to change the climate either positively or negatively. Unless of course we have an all out nuclear war. That might change the climate

I think we can alleviate the carbon issue rather quickly.

There are piles of scientific data from the world's leading climate research organizations, including America's leading scientific research institutions, that indicate climate change is legitimate.

In fact, Trump's federal government released a scientific report in November which stated that human influence has been the primary cause of observed warming since the mid 1900's.

It's not from Brietbart, so I doubt you'll consider it, but someone may be interested.

Well said. Record highs are normal while cold days are evidence climate change is a socialist scam. 2016 and 2017 were 2 of the 3 warmest years in the satellite record for the lower troposphere, which dates back to 1979. Probably just a coincidence...

Those formulating their climate change conclusions based on the musings of Trump, Hannity, Limbaugh, Pruitt and the weather are probably missing the mark. Peer reviewed scientific research has a much more impressive track record.

One single volcanic eruption can change the earth's climate on a global scale. There are so many variables in play.

So I see your electric car and raise it with a volcano. Or two.

Wouldn't these "top" organizations and researchers lose their funding if they said anything else? Follow the money....follow the money.

Some of the same NOAA "researchers" that say Red Snapper stocks are so low that recreational fishermen only get a 3 day season??

I’m not saying you are wrong, but could it be that we observe warmer temps because we have technology such as satellite readings that we did not have 20 years ago?

Also looking at temps from 1979 on only observes this generation’s temps and ignores hundreds of years of recorded weather data and associated patterns. The first thermometer was invented in 1612.... how do those centuries of data play into how we perceive changes.

I would bet they are merely blips in the overall scheme.

Lose funding from who? Trump's federal government?

Why did Trump's federal government just publish a report stating that human influence has been the primary cause of observed warming since the mid 1900's? Is it because the scientists involved were afraid Trump would kill their funding if they disputed climate change?

Do you follow the money when the fossil fuel industry funds climate change denial?

In 2012 Charles Koch (Koch Brother) funded a climate change study by Physicist Richard Mueller. Mueller was a leading and vocal climate change skeptic at the time. The results of the study caused Mueller to pen an oped titled "The Conversion of a Climate-Change Skeptic". He did a complete 180 because of his team's analysis.

My point is that your implication that all scientists who study the climate are on the take is ridiculous and an insult to scientists and the peer review process under which they operate.

Seriously, it takes a special kind of conspiracy theorist to believe that thousands of scientists, hundreds of University research programs, US National Laboratories, and the world's primary climate monitoring stations are all in on a giant scam orchestrated by the Chinese to bilk America.

It became political when the Dems decided to tax everyone because of something that is well beyond the control of the avg American citizen. And then give Trillions of American taxpayers money to other countries. That's how the issue became political. The new coming ice age nor the hole in the ozone layer never became a political football.....ask yourself why?
