    2013 Quail Numbers

Let's get a survey started on 2013 quail population numbers. I know we've got a bunch of quail chasers on here.

I have been seeing good numbers of Bob Whites in Nolan County. Saw several juvenile coveys, one big covey of 20-25 birds, and a few still paired up this past weekend.
Nowhere near where it used to be but a good year thus far.

Dad is reporting good Blue numbers out around Alpine.

What are you seeing on your place???

Some good info for anyone interested:

My In-laws leave here and winter down in Beeville and he hunts quail about everyday for three months. They are telling him the quail crop this year in Bee County is pretty good and better than the past few years for sure.

      Good read.

Sure hope they can pin down the answer to what's going on with the quail population.

Seems to be a good population this year at my dove lease near Archer City. Hope the trend continues.

Looking better than it has in over 5 years in McMullen county. Seeing multiple coveys per day.

Can't put an exact # on it but I hear them every evening when I'm at the lease. Busted a covey the other day had at least 15 in it. They just aren't close to the roads cause we aren't feeding yet.

We are covered up in Refugio county. Im sure a flood will be along shortly to wipe them out. It happens every time like that.

In the last 2 months I have seen quite a few at my lease in Pumpville. They camp out under the deer feeder all day. Probably seen over 200 in the last 2 trips to the lease

See a covey at every feeder each time we go out. Best numbers I have seen in a while. Shackelford county

Better than the past few years. We have about 2/3 bob's and 1/3 blues. Both are up. All coveys I saw last trip all had lots of chicks and small birds so multiple hatches.

In western Webb Co. we are seeing several large coveys of blues and bobs every time we go out. One weekend we saw a different covey at over a dozen feed pens. Plenty of ground cover from all the summer rain but I'm afraid that the most recent ones could flood some areas and hurt the population. We've had over 3 inches since Saturday and its supposed to keep raining all week.
