      I would do a 24 hr smoke dry run to season the inside. Just my $.02

              Pretty cool!
              As an engineer I have to say that a "good" foundation isn't built on grass!
              Given your application it'll probably serve you fine.

                    Yes, hanging rods for sausage and a rack for larger cuts like Brisket, ham and Turkey.

                      It's a 6 x 12 slab, 3" thick in center and 6" thick around the edge and across at 4' and 8'.
                      We have black land here so I know one day I'll have to level it and if I put it on top of the ground then I won't have to dig as deep to get under it.
