If he was slow then King if he was fast then racer. Either way harmless.

In quite a few states they are protected species, but do not have a protected status in Texas..

Well crud. I figured it was good. Tried catching him to relocate but kept coming toward me. Fast joker. I hate snakes around my kids.

That is one of the few snakes that gets a free pass around here. Rough earth, texas brown and speckled kings all get to go about their business. There are a ton of speckled kings in our area.

Ok, for the record, there are only FOUR venomous snakes found in Texas.

                        1. Copperhead
                        2. Water Moccasin / Cottonmouth
                        3. Rattlesnake
                        4. Coral Snake

I had one of those eat a rattlesnake in an old shed by my house a few years ago, tore down the shed and let all speckled king snakes have a pass since then.

All 4, although there are a couple species of rattlesnakes found in the state.

I guess you must like having rattle snakes around? How do "outdoors-men" not know that there are only four poisonous snakes in Texas and what they look like?
