For the bean haters. Try putting in kidney beans. The color and consistency, taste go well with chili. They don't break down to mush like a pinto or other bean would. Plus you need some fiber in your dinner anyways. Straight up meat not good for the bowels unless you want straight blow out in the morning eating all seasoned meat and sauce

If I use....errr ...the boss orders.... beans, they are pintos and I put them in late. On a 1.5 hour low simmer, the last 15-20 minutes get the pintos because we are not huge fans of kidney beans. That's long enough to absorb some seasoning and not long enough to go to mush....for us anyway,
