Very cool story. But that cap is uglier than homemade soap!

I was 19 working as a roustabout on a rig near Deadhorse. This city boy learned a lot about grunt work- 12 hours a day 7 days a week for 3 months each summer

My dad was head of safety/training for the company. Because of that the driller didn’t want me on his rig and the other hands rode me like a short horse - I really had to prove myself. I gained a lot of respect for those guys

At the end of the summer dad had to come up and do his inspections. This pic was taken in 75’ - that’s the arctic ocean in the background. The first summer I went up I remember him saying “ I called your pusher and said not to cut you any slack - if he don’t make a hand, run him off like anybody else” I ended up making a crapload of money over 4 summers - enough to get through school. Great experience

WOW! Blast from the past. I remember seeing a lot of guys wearing those hats when we moved up there in '76. I think my stepdad may have had one. He was working on the slope in the 70's and 80's.

Cool, I had the same thing happen a few weeks ago. A Navy pard I hadn't seen in 35 years came through. Last time I saw him was my bachelor party, June 1983. While he was here he handed me a .45 cal CVA caplock I had built aboard ship and said "you left this".
