Brazos Bend State Park hunt

I took vacation days, packed my gear, downloaded all the info off the TP&W website and was feeling lucky about getting in on the hunt thru the standby drawing. Either sex Deer, Dec 6 thru 9.

Got to the check station only to be told they had cancelled the "Standby" drawing for the hunt.

Several others drove a hell of lot farther than me just to get turned away.

Thanks TP&W for make a call that made NO SENSE AT ALL!!!

Did you call the park before your drive to ask about stand by? If everyone pays they dont have open spots even if they dont show. I dont agree with that but i was recently told if a spot is paid yhey have to hold it for the hunter. They will tell you if they are taking stand by hunters if they need more harvest to fill a quota. Each park has different flexibility levels as far as what they can do.
Dont really help you now though. Better luck next time
