    Putting in for tags

So school me on the best way to put in for various tags. And where to go for learning which zones, etc.

    Thanks.

What animal are you interested in? State? Method of take?

You’ve got to do your research. There are some paid sites like go hunt that will dumb it down for you, but you can learn the same thing from podcasts or YouTube videos.

You still have to know what units you’d actually like to hunt, how many preference points they typically draw at, how many non-resident tags are available, etc.

You could technically apply in every western state, but you’ll be throwing away thousands of dollars every year. Most run you ~ $150 on a non-resident license to even apply.

If you have a youth. Register for the texas youth hunting program. Let them know it’s your first time. They have hunts all over the state. We get drawn at least three times a season. Cave Creek is a super hunt. 50 kids hunting 15 different ranches. We left with two bucks and a doe. All for $150. Meals provided.

I’ve always wondered if it was for Texas resident kids only....we are temporarily misplaced Texans currently😂

Some states will require or take Preference points, PP, to draw tags and some do not.
Colorado has over the counter sales on some tags, elk and bear etc.
Wyoming is a draw for all non residents . A percentage of tags are set aside for random drawing with no PP needed to enter. You can apply without PP for any tag.
In Wyoming , on most tags, you can hunt archery or rifle, only Type 9 tags are archery only and found in certain areas.
Western states have lots of public land and it is good hunting, no need to pay a landowner or outfitter unless you want to.
We have cow elk and doe tags in Wyoming for a reduced price, they are draw also but no PP are needed or used for drawing tags.

                  Check out huntinfool.com

There is too much good info out there to try and type it in a thread.

We should make a forum for Out of State hunts.
These questions get ask over and over and over.
It would be nice to have it all somewhere, for those looking.
Cuz, you really don't need to go to another site, we know it all .
