Houston 290 traffic question

I drive it daily, 290 to 610 into the Galleria.

This project is being done in 9 sections by different contractors and is a NIGHTMARE. I drive it twice a day.
IT SUCKS and it is behind schedule, and I always see people working on it. It will take at least another year or more to finish

Come in on 71 to I-10... traffic will still be bad, but it moves... ANY route is better n 290

Or take 99 South to the Westpark and take it in.

This is what I would do. OR even try to get on the westpark toll way.

290 is a parking lot, sometimes even the HOV.

610 is worse, a parking lot full of idiots that all think they are way more important than you.

And the section by the Galleria, is going to test every shred of patience you posses in your body. Good luck, you may give up on humanity entirely after this road trip.

Thanks, fellas. I've definitely had plenty of time sitting on 290, just never been on it coming in TO Houston. I can't move the meeting because it's a training class for a lot of other people as well. Looks like I'll just stay the night in Houston and not have to leave Austin at 1:30 in the morning.

Remember to leave any thing of significant value at home.
Take out a life insurance policy on yourself tonight if you have children/wife.
Do not look anyone directly in the eye here.
Everyone here is color blind. Traffic lights are useless. Treat every intersection accordingly. Just gun it.




71 to 10 is your best bet as others have said.

Right now 290 is miserable all work days from 6am to 9pm

Leave Austin early like 5am

Come in in 290 but take 99 toll south

99 will take you across IH10 down to westpark toll road

Take westpark toll towards city center to Timmons

I've made this trip from Austin

You'll make it

It's on toll roads but it's the best way

Been down 290 too often. Last three trips headed in from your direction I would take fm.359 out of Hempstead and hit I10 at Brookshire. Pick a way around 610 until you can hit close. I AIN'T driving 290 no more. 15-20 minute longer trip but a heck of a lot better if there is a wreck on the barrier walls on 290 from Waller in.
