Sorry if you are getting tired of my posts about my daughters archery competitions. I try to keep it to one or two a year.
This year was a big year because we decided that she was moving from the elementary class to an adult class. Many reasons to do this but the biggest was to avoid the drama from the parents at that age. Also we knew she could compete with the adults.
1st tournament of the year she got 3rd and surprised us with a podium finish. After that she had a 4th and 5th place finish. All of these National ASA tournaments. Well then we found out she needed contacts and we did not know how much that was going to affect her Archery.
She struggled for a couple of months and scores dropped dramatically. She was able to win a few local tournaments and state qualifiers but she had to fight for every one of those.
With a bunch of experimenting and talking with people smarter than me we got her bow set up to work for her.
The last two weeks she practiced more than she has all summer. She has been busy with multiple church camps. Hanging out with friends and just being a kid.
I knew she was better prepared for this tournament. She ended up shooting her highest national score and finished 3rd Shooter of the year. Also she won out of her class and next year has to move up.
Abigale is 12 years old and a gifted archer and She loves to hunt and compete. She was won 4 national championships and many state titles. I’m not sure how many 12 year olds have moved to adult class and shot out of it the 1st year.
Needless to say her mom and I could not be more proud!!!
