    Henry Single Shot 243

Anyone have any experience with this gun? I’m thinking about getting the youth sized model for the kids. How is the accuracy? How do y’all like it?

Had one in 45-70 that was awesome

Trigger spring needs an upgrade but that is super cheap.

The stock is really set up for iron sights so the cheek weld sucks with a scope. Still able to shoot accurately, though.

Here's a thread on the one I had. Ended up using a skinner peep and warne rail and rings

        How’s your accuracy?

Never mind. Saw your post above.

With an 8x scope and cheap Federal ammo, I was shooting 1.25" groups

I suggest you try the trigger first, many find it unacceptable even after the spring job. It is a gun you can work on yourself though.

Most folk find the accuracy directly related to the trigger.

I need to add to above. I tried two at a gunshop today, the 243 had a decent hammer pull and trigger release, a candidate for the spring job. The .223 took about 35lbs of force to cock the hammer and trigger pull felt about 15lbs.

I guess what I’m saying is nothing is consistent with these single shots except inconsistency. Try the hammer and trigger, if it feels decent, then it will be more so with a spring job. After being burned on several occasions with these Henry’s I would NEVER buy one without trying the hammer and trigger first, no way, no how.

I think I have a spare spring around if you purchase one and want to change springs.

                Just PM whenever.

Same. I have several springs available.

I looked at some of the henrys but the triggers were bad, really bad. Wound up buying a NEF handi rifle 243.
