I have a couple of those. I was really using it for keeping my sucker rods from slipping down the casing.

You need a set of these. You will never go back to using a pipe wrench or monkey wrench.

How does that work? Does that just crimp onto the sucker rod where you break them apart?

No crimp or anything like that. You literally just push it on under the box once you have your joint in the air, then let it slide back down till it catches. Still have to have wrench to break your joints but when your done use the elevator to lift it up once started pop it off rinse and repeat. Works great when you have 2 guys running it and just hand pulling a shallow water well if using equipment just need 2 sets of elevators since one will be used to pull with and the other for holding your rods up in the casing.

Here is a video of how they work. Super quick and easy if running 2 guys on a water well even if doing it by hand.
