I've got a former HS teammate, Aggie grad, 5A HC for a current round four playoff team...that thinks it was a bad look.

So was Jimbo supposed to meet all 5,000 Texas head coaches first? Just curious. Pretty sure the same day he was at Katy High and several other high schools. He has a lot of ground to make up in short order. Maybe killing more birds with one stone (going to 7 on 7 Fast Houston) was considered a better strategy. He may change the way recruiting is done to be more like basketball (AAU)

I didnít think HCís would get feelings hurt so easy. Bunch of snowflakes

When y'all talk about 7 on 7 coaches are you speaking of schools/coaches that only field 7 man teams? If so.... how many of those teams put players on major college teams?

Never paid much attention to them since most are west of my area.

These 7on7 guys are private/club teams. I don't know much on the in's and out's and would rather not speculate or cause confusions as to why. But, some liken it to AAU BB and the street agents that come with it.

A **** good HS coach. Of course they like being a part of the process.

Even shared division championships are up there. But hey, gotta cover Kroger field somehow.

I donít understand the recruiting through a head coach. I can sort of see their point though. Get scouts watching someone, maybe get other kids offered elsewhere.

I assume so, and I have no doubt that the coaches don't like 7on7.

But to say that A&M has ruined it's recruiting in Houston for a decade is false.

BTW, the first person Fischer meet with outside of A&M's campus was the president of the Texas High School Football Coaches Association.

Apparently there is bad blood between THSCA and the Addidas 7 on 7 stuff. They said Jimbo didn't know what he was getting himself into. Texas people know not to go there. Hence the reason you want your coach to know how recruiting works in this state.

Jimbo is going to get scrutinized until the new wears off and the jealousy of a football coach making 75 million. I am betting that when he shows up in a kid's living room that he will get quite a bit of attention.

I wouldn't think so. The 7on7 stuff has been a talking point for HS coaches over the last several years and the Academy's like Bishop Gordon or IMG are worse in my opinion.

Man this thread is starting to make me feel dumber by reading it.

Coaches from TEXAS, the state of or Texas ties, the state of.....or recruiting experience in Texas, the state of.

I can't say that I ever saw Herman doing the kiss his players thing this year? Did he?

I agree with Chad C, I am not a fan of the academies that recruit and groom talent for the next level. My nephew was the Head Coach at Cibolo Steele until taking the AD job this year. I was pretty shocked at the DeSoto team that he played in the State Final game. There was more D1 talent on that team than any I had ever seen and I later found that many of the players were transferring in there to play on that team. To be honest, when I saw the teams warming up I was concerned that those little boys from SA might not survive the game.

Of course Tom Herman is recruiting a WR from the same 7on7 team and meet with them on campus this summer, OU hosted the coach and part of the team this season and TCU is in with them as well. But we won't talk about that because we are trying to spin this as being bad for A&M.

And before we start putting words in peoples mouths how about we use Coach Joesph's actual quote when asked about it "I can see why some of the people are getting upset," Joseph said. "But before they pass the judgment, they need to see where he's coming from in this, too." Sounds kind of understanding of the situation to me. Of course I'm reading through maroon glasses to that's probably a hellfire and ****ation speech when read through burnt orange glasses.

You make some valid points.....however Tom has caught hell ON HERE for going 6-6 therefore Jimbo should do better or catch the same hell. He is inheriting a 7-5 team, Tom got a 5-7 consecutive years team.

Heck, had the 7on7 dude refrained from posting pics of their private dinner at his house, it would have never even been a topic of discussion.

The Houston dude trains a ton of kids, these guys can be bought. Hence the street agent lingo being tossed around.

Yes he did visit the forty with several of his "prospects" TE Epps is one, QB Thompson is one, (both committed to Texas)etc...

The Aggies have a QB from IMG Academy that I would have liked to have seen go with Sumlin unless he is will to try it as a TE or WR.

I think Mond got thrown into the fire before he was ready. I think he can still be good if he can improve his passing. The game this year was just too fast for him.

Jimbo doing more damage with Texas HC's. Michael Johnson is no Snowflake!

Texas A&M head coach Jimbo Fisher stopped by Dallas Bishop Dunne on Thursday, and he made a very quick impression.

"It was great. He's a great coach, a great person," Bishop Dunne head coach Michael Johnson said. "It was the first time I've had the opportunity to meet him, and he has a huge plan for what he wants to do at Texas A&M. He was talking about the support he has with the administration, the support he has with the fanbase, the support he has with pretty much the whole alumni base which is one of the largest alumni bases in the world and I didn't know that until it was brought to my attention."

Bishop Dunne is home to top 2019 safety Brian Williams and 2019 athlete Marquez Beason. Both have A&M offers and both were offered by Fisher at Florida State, and Fisher being at A&M has perked their interest in the Aggie program.

It meant a lot to coach Johnson that the first stop in the DFW area was to Bishop Dunne.

"It's definitely an honor because the caliber of coach, a national championship winning coach, and we haven't had that come in our building since Mack Brown," Johnson said. "So it was exciting. Our administration was excited and he brings a certain type of charisma about himself. He's special and you can tell."

Coach Price was also with coach Fisher.

I think Mond has a huge upside. He wasn't supposed to play but had to and wasn't ready. Once he get's his throwing motion down and the speed of the game slows down for him he will be very dangerous. I really hope he stays around.

Mond is no Manziel and never will be. I started watching Manziel when he was playing at Kerrville. He was the greatest high school player that I ever saw and was the only player on the team that received a college offer in football. No matter if you were a follower of A&M football, you were watching the Aggies. Half were wanting him to get killed while the other half were loving it...but all were amazed at his skills.
Mond was thrown in too early but in my opinion, rather than improve, he actually digressed. He does not see the field and did a poor job reading defenses. He can tuck the ball and run well at times.
My nephew was the OC at Steele when they played K'ville. Malcolm Brown was Steele's big gun but four or five others off that team received D1 offers. Johnny was responsible for like 8 touchdowns and pulled out a win. The next year, I was visiting with my Nephew at Thanksgiving and he said that it was so nice to see that Nick Saban couldn't find a way to stop Johnny either.
Adios,
Gary

I'm actually surprised at the number of current commits planing to sign early.

Of the 18 currently committed, 12 have said they'll sign on the 20th. Now it looks like 15 will sign on the 20th and 7 will early enroll.

I didn't think the early period would have that much of an impact.
