Ode To The Rattlesnake
Woe unto the Rattlesnake
For his life cannot be good
Living under sticks and rocks
And logs of rotting wood
He spends his winter in a den
All damp, dark, and smelly
Sleeping for months on end
With nothing in his belly
Then finally comes the summer
And he crawls back outside
Stretches on a flat rock
To sun his scaly hide
And when his cold thick blood
Finally starts to heat
He slithers on his stomach
For he has no little feet
With his forked tongue
He tests the dusty air
Looking for a tasty meal
Of anything with hair
And when he finally finds it
In hopes of getting fat
He swallows is dinner whole
Even a stinking rat
If you hear the rattle tail
You better start to worry
Get the heck out of there
And do it in a hurry
The tell tale buzz
Will leave you with no doubt
If you stick around a little long
His bite will take you out
But fear not the Rattlesnake
For even he is not without foe
He trembles at the very thought
Of ole Trailboss with a hoe
And if I should miss a lick
With my trusty hoe
I'll just look for other ways
to finish off this show
I'll shoot ole Rattler in the head
With a Colt or Smith & Wesson
And hang him on a fence
To teach his buddies a lesson
Woe unto the Rattlesnake
For his life cannot be good
Living under sticks and rocks
And logs of rotting wood
He spends his winter in a den
All damp, dark, and smelly
Sleeping for months on end
With nothing in his belly
Then finally comes the summer
