What kind of tree is this?

Found a group of 5 of these while looking for hogs on Hagerman

At least 5’ diameter, 100’+ tall

Bark was similar to pine, had “layers” and light weight

Suspect it is some kind of oak

That’s what I would guess as well, but should be easier to tell in a few weeks once leaves are out.

Look up at the top branches--is the bark white? If so, cottonwood.

Cottonwood for sure and a nice sized hackberry beside it. Hogs love the hackberry, sugarberry, for what it drops. Any rooting under the hackberry?

The height description says cottonwood. The bark says cottonwood. The dried leaves on the ground says cottonwood.

That orange fletching on that arrow looks like one I have seen before.

                              Flew right over my head

I didn't see any white up in the tops

Dad is pretty smart about trees and he thought it was some kind of oak

I have no clue and would not be surprised if it was a cotton wood

All I know is they were all 5 huge trees within 50' circle
