Default Tuna trip time

Itís that time of year again. A bunch of us are going 12-27 for a trip. It will be 2 nights of tuna fishing. All I can guarantee is an adventure. If interested and serious call Crystal at Dolphin Docks and send her a deposit. Should be 4 or so spots available.

Tight lines

It’s a 60 hour and we are changing th8ngs and just everyone go through Crystal. Same deal once there. We will bring plenty to eat and I’m sure catch plenty. Cost is about $900

Details on trip. We shove off 5-6 am and run for the day. Then troll until dark. Dark we will drift. Guys will be dropping jigs, chunking, and casting during the drifts.

Food- bring ice chests for food and drinks. Usually have food out so itís more like grazing the entire trip. I usually make Poke during day 2.

Gear- boat has gear and guys have gear and there is plenty of it. Iíd bring about 5 Ahi Assault Glo color 6 ounce jigs. And if your a casting type Iíd bring about 2 flying fish and 2 Halco lures. Their website says no braid but ignore that for this trip.

Disclaimer- it is fishing there is no guarantee on catching. With that said Iíve been numerous times one this boat with Capt Tim. I have always caught YFT and all the black fin I want to deal with. Usually have bottom fish too ( during day either run in some and reef fish or stay deep and drop for tile and barrel fish).

Glen you guys just need to buy a boat and live out there for a few months.

If anyone ever thought about wanting to catch YFT you better not hesitate. Jump on this quick.

My son, who's away at college, would love to go but mama would kill me if I sent him fishing instead of home for Christmas break LOL

And $900 is not bad at all for a 60 hour on that boat...Actually a great price.

What Glen said!

We have never been skunked even on the worst weather trip. Your gonna catch fish! It's always a goal that everybody puts at least one yellowfin on the deck and it usually happens! If a yellowfin is on your bucket list here's your chance!

If you have any questions send a PM

If this is an annual, I'm putting it on the calendar for next year. We'll be in Arizona this year. Good luck. My suggestion to all is bring more coolers (for when you return to the dock) than you think you need. One time in Venice I was buying those styro ice chests at 20 a pop cause I had so much tuna.

Just talked to Crystal and assuming I have the right trip it's a 16 person 50 hour charter on the Dolphin Express. Price is $925 and initial booking is under the name of Rob. Also there are only 2 spots left.

It's all old but I have a few setups that should be better than what they have on the boat. My light rig will be a Penn 980 on a fast rod, heavy is a Tiagra 50W LRS on a Anglers Center troller.

I was looking at past pictures and noticed very few using a belt and no one was using a harness. Are most just using the rail?

A few do use belts but most use one of these.... https://m.tackledirect.com/luna-sea-cush-it.html. They really help!

Don't use the harnesses because they will generally run you around the boat a time or two. Your going to have to weave thru some stuff or possible hand the rig to a deck hand at some point to get around the bow or another problem area. Things happen so quick with those fish and lots of time there are multiple hookups at once. It's just to crazy to get rigged up in a harness!

Yes sir rail rods for the win
Iíll sometimes throw a belt on, but usually just use a Cush it

This trip will be tuna focused. Usually a few amaco, some reef fish, may even go deep drop for tile and barrel during the day. If tuna don’t do it for you I wouldn’t recommend this trip

Aw man! All you guys who every year say, " I'm gonna make next year for sure"...and you ladies know who you are ! You need to do this to preserve your manhood! It is not an easy trip, picnicking while sunning on deck and sipping Mai Tai's. Put on your big boy pants and join these pirates for a testosterone-filled adventure!

Don't make me go back, research previous threads, and call out those who say next year!

Sorry, I can't make this during the Christmas holidays!

So you give a big long speech and then end it by saying you can't make it?

Seriously if anyone loves fishing this is THE trip. There are only a couple trips I'd pay for and that's this one and an overnight shark trip down PINS with Oz

What's great about this trip is one can fish at any level. Get as dirty as you want. Reel in as many fish as you want. Relax as much as you want. Eat as much as you want. And for sure BS as much as you want.

just to clarify. I am interested but have no experience deep sea fishing, nor have any deep sea gear. Is this something I shouldn't even consider, or is it okay to not have any rod n reels and experience?

You don't need experience, everybody on this boat will help you. It's like a family trip not a bunch of guys fishing on there own. You'll catch fish, eat good, and make some new friends! I cant think of a better way to first experience tuna fishing! It's a very good time!!!

The boat has equipment, not necessarily the best but functional. If you end up going give me a holler and I may have some gear to share.

I went on this trip a couple of years back with no equipment, knowledge, or experience....had a great time, caught plenty of fish. Everyone went out of there way to help me. I am still so grateful for the adventure.

I tried to send gift cards to the guys who let me lose equipment. If I missed someone sorry and thanks again.

Itís a long trip and should be taken by serious anglers, but a must do, bucket list trip for inclined.

Iím planning on being out of the country but will go again at some point.
