Default Trail cam critter id help

This image was caught on a friends trail camera. It is the only image of this animal that was taken and is not the best angle. Need some help identifying what it is. The camera is located in the Val Verde area of South Texas.

The camera is on a T post about 25 or 30 feet from the feeder. Looks like the black stripe is a shadow from the post.

Any good ideas what we are looking at?

It is many miles from any houses and locked access, but could be a dog I suppose. Should not be any in there though.

It's either a dog or the ever elusive red panther.

Now you've done it. Now there's a new myth for the gullible to perpetuate.

I'd second the red panther......no one seems to be able to believe a black panther....so lets go red this time!

hound dog with a cut tail. Probably someones. You might ought to look around to see if anyone in the area is missing a dog.

Ha! Very true. I would agree it looks like a dog but it is about 3 miles as the crow flies from the closest road which is why it surprises me. It is the most remote spot on a large ranch.
