I have never had much luck fishing in Lake Tahoe from the bank. If you fly into Sacramento you will take US Hwy 50 to the south shore. You can fish the American River on the way up. There are plenty of access points along the road. I would recommend trout fishing on the Truckee or Little Truckee River but it is on the north side of the lake.

We literally made no major plans and asked the locals where to go, what to eat, and got some great advice. I can't wait to go back.

Bringing this back up from last year-
Those of you that went, anything you recommend? We plan on staying near Incline Village on the North side in late July. I plan to fish the little truckee and do some mtn biking. We are taking the kids (4 and 6 yrs). Is it a must to stay at a place with a pool for young kids or are there enough other things to keep them entertained for 5 days?
