When I want to travel light.

Tamron and Sigma both make cheaper versions. Not the fastest lens in the world, but it works well when there's enough available light and you only want to carry one lens.

70-200 2.8 VR. Not light but will do just about anything but landscapes.

X2. I always seem to keep mine on. Although I love my 70-200 the 18-200 is good to me for random walk around pics.

I don't understand what "walk around lens in the field" is exactly? For general wildlife photography I love my 100-400L. For walking around in general, 17-55 F2.8, unless I am in the field and then it's back to the 100-400
