Let me know how y'all feel about the crawfish in a couple months. I got the ok from my boss to do the same thing for some ponds at work, just waiting for them to get cheaper first

No ducks from this one in 15-16 either. Never saw any good numbers on it either. Was a weird year in that area of the world with a lot of water all around, but this property has a couple duck holes that produce good duck numbers each season. We checked it often and hoped it would serve as a resting area, but never saw more than a few wood ducks on it.

Will do. Hoping to sneak out there and wet a line some time soon.

Sorry to say I haven't been out there yet this year. Fish are growing well from what I hear. Will get an update next time I talk with him. Thanks for asking

Snuck out there to fish this past weekend and was a great time. Fish are still pretty easy to catch and putting on good weight.

There are definitely 3 different age class of fish. This years are small, last years are most of the fish in the pics, and finally the first year fish that are getting healthy. This was the first time the fish acted like they were supposed to in terms of concentrating on the humps/windrows/and structure.

We threw everything back in except one. Belly had a combination of crawfish and shad.

Couple update pics.

The discharge from under the dock. The well makes a bunch of water.

Green sunfish. Pretty darn fun to catch, but not really desirable at all from a pond Mgmt point of view. With their aggressiveness and mouth size, they are more predator than bait. They are not near as prolific as bluegill are in terms of being a "baitfish." I pretty much never put any green sunfish back in the pond that I catch.

We have two ponds stocked specifically with green sunfish for the sole purpose of bait. We've found they stay alive longer on the hook than any other bait Fish we've tried.

Did you guys stick shad for the bass? We have a 2.5-3 acre pond that we stocked Ruth with Florida bass and a bunch of bluegills about 4 years ago. I wanted to stock some more forage fish this ear for the bass but wasn’t sure what would be the best thing to throw in there at this point. We sunk a number of PVC trees and have some brush piles on the shore lines for some cover. Let me know if we should stock some more forage fish and which type of fish we should stock.

We've put in about 10K Threadfin shad over the years and 30 Bull Gizzards last year.

How many tilapia and shad would you add to our 2 acre pond? Remind you that we stocked largemouth bass and bluegills 5yrs or so ago and haven’t added any fish since. We e caught a couple that are near 4lbs but I feel like we need more forage fish so I wanted to get yalls opinion on how many we should add of each for our pond. Also, would we need to add a fish feeder for this forage fish? We are near Brady, TX so I’m not sure where the nearest place would be to get these fish. Please let me know.

Really depends on your goals for the lake. Oh yeah and budget. How many bluegill are you seeing? Ever catch any? Do you want to catch big fish, lots of fish, etc?

Most any of the fish guys will deliver once you get an idea of what you want. Make sure you set your own goals or else a "consultant" can talk you into a big program in a hurry.

Happy to help with what limited info i know.

Wish it was. Wife calls it an addiction, we call it a passion. Just been lucky to find friends that enjoy the same things all of us here do.

Appreciate it. By no means an expert here. One thing we learned is take more pictures when you're building it. GPS tag that stuff you really don't want to forget.

Appreciate everyone following along. Fun to share. Here are a few more pics from the work over the last 8 months. Duck season got in our way for a big portion of that, but tried to play catch up this spring.

Moving rock.... moving rock... moving rock. If you're a large mouth bass or a bluegill we have a subdivision for you

Big stump on top of a mound with rock lining the edges down. Top of the stump should be 4' under water and 16'ish to the bottom. There's 3 of these all making a little triangle in this area.

Rock stacking crew and their vehicles. You can see the other two humps that form the triangle in the background. Goal here was to be able to be able to target a bunch of area from one boat. With different wind/sun situations in mind.

Looking down the same area. Just to the left of where this ends is the triangle of humps. About 10' to the bottom from to the top of the ridge from where the pic was taken.

Deep water rocks. This is a little bit of an experiment no telling if it will work

Rock lean-to after rock lean-to. This one is at the toe of the dam.

Sorry I missed this specific question. Crawfish seem to be doing well. Most fish caught and cleaned this spring had crawfish in their belly, and a crawdad crank bait has been money
